Led the backend engineering team through the transformation from a single-client system to a multi-tenant model. To ensure data isolation, we implemented PostgreSQL Row Level Security, preventing cross-tenant data leakage as close to the actual data as possible. Also numerous changes were needed in the entire stack to support the multi-tenant model.

Facilitated scaling the platform to support a growing customer base, optimizing performance, and ensuring higher availability, at the same time the development of new features also continued. This involved large refactors, for example splitting some of the modules into microservices, and also internal refactoring the codebases to be more maintainable and scalable. Using observability, we were able to identify and resolve performance issues. We also added Redis caching where necessary.

Some of the initial design and integration decisions were not scaling well as traffic increased. Both the architecture and code were originally written for a single-tenant system. Although we successfully converted the core to support multi-tenancy, we found that the legacy design was the primary source of performance issues. We carefully designed a new, scalable, and performant architecture for product integration. This new system was integrated alongside our current setup, allowing us to carefully migrate each external source to the new system using the strangler fig pattern.

Served as Interim Chief Technology Officer, overseeing all technical aspects of the platform and guiding and planning strategic technology decisions, and communicating with the board.

Solely responsible for the end-to-end management of the customer-facing legacy website. Navigated the complexities of a proprietary legacy booking engine while implementing critical UX overhauls and architectural modernizations within an aging ASP.NET, JQuery and Knockout.js environment.

The attempt to integrate an off-the-shelf booking engine for the customer was aborted in favor of developing a custom solution. This decision was made because the vendor failed to deliver their part of the agreement.

My role was backend implementation, establishing core booking logic and third-party API product supplier integrations. This completely replaced the old legacy system. Worked closely with the CTO and stakeholders for architectural decisions and database design. Implemented key features such as availability search, booking management, and payment processing. Ensured high code quality through unit and integration testing.

As we grew from just a few developers to multiple employees, I was promoted to Tech Lead with my own backend team, I also took on more architectural ownership. Led the tasks of splitting some modules into dedicated microservices, and prepared the system for SaaS transition with high availability. Mentored junior developers and established best practices for code quality and deployment.
